This past Sunday, my man, his twin brother and I went down to Nanaimo to do some shopping. I stress the word some, for two reasons. The first being I was trying to be very, very good with my money, and was thus looking for every excuse under the sun why I shouldn’t buy anything that caught my eye. The second was the fact that there are not many stores worthy of shopping at in Nanaimo. Oh, the woes of living on the island! Granted, there is Victoria, but we are so far away, it’s not even worth considering most times. But I digress…
The Keg in Nanaimo…
It had always been my plan to take him to the Keg for his birthday, which was in January but it took some time saving up for this treat. After an hour or so wandering the teensy, tiny mall and sampling some fabulous teas at a tea shop (the saving grace of that mall, in my opinion!) I suggested that we have dinner at our favourite steakhouse, as both a tardy birthday celebration and a bit of pre-Valentine’s luxury as well. And so we had a very lovely, cozy end to the day, as well as the weekend.
The food is always fantastic at The Keg –I went to wash my hands and came back to find the lovely round loaf of bread they always serve before the meal was half gone. And yes, we did have a second one… good bread and wine is the best way to begin a meal, although I was careful not to have too much, as it is very filling in its own right. We shared a plate of Kansas City Strip, with a fully-dressed baked potato and crispy onion rings on the side. I ordered a Caesar salad as well, just to have some semblance of vegetables. I’m a good girl, aren’t I?
We had a wonderful time, and I honestly can’t think of one occasion where The Keg has ever fallen short of our expectations. They even wished us a happy birthday and Valentine’s, which I thought was terribly sweet!
I finally had a chance to debut my Mara Gottler two-panelled top. I really like this top — Mara loves to use natural fabrics, which are always a pleasure to wear against the skin. I did love the dramatic sheer, textured panels on both sides of the shirt. Unfortunately, it was a bit dark when supper was over, and half the pictures my man took turned out so blurry that it wasn’t even worth trying to hurt anyone’s eyes in order to show the details. If anyone’s interested, I paired it with the black J Brand pencil-leg jeans I’ m so fond of wearing (as you can see in past pictures here) and my favourite Mackage ‘Leane’ leather jacket. I’m sure I’ll find plenty of occasions to wear the top to, as it’s become one of my most favourite pieces in my closet.
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day, yesterday… I certainly did –I got extra hugs and kisses!
Happy Mid-Week!! ♥
