Mmm… I just adore stationery. They provide such a unique outlet for creativity, and a pretty writing pad or journal is just so hard to resist.
Being a Jane Austen devotee (I’ve read all her books, including the unfinished one that Joan Aiken completed…) this Travel Companion caught my eye as I was browsing the online Jane Austen Gift Shop back in February. I decided to splurge the $13.00, and now possess this piece of fanciness (which arrived here in Canada from Merry Olde Englande in 4 days!), with every intention of madly enjoying it.
It came in a lovely blue bag along with a pamphlet on Bath and tea tours (must go to England someday) … presentation can delight as well as add suspense!
Just as it says in the description, there are pockets for mementoes –my favourite part! I shall be happily tucking away treasures (of a flatter nature) in them on my travels.
The interior right holds a notebook, which I had hoped would be a bit fancier at first but it has grown on me now that I have come to terms with the fact that it is not a journal. *Ahem* Silly me. The pages are perforated so that if need be, you can neatly tear them out. When the pad is through, I will simply paste another one in.

As a finishing touch, there is a bit of red elastic in the centre of the spine, so that one can slip a treasured pen in. It is a lovely, well-thought detail that I appreciated, and as you can see, I’ve already tucked one in!
It is definitely lightweight, but I am not very fond of the fact that the covers are not very sturdy. On travels, things can get bumped easily, and this may ‘smush’ quite quickly if not looked after. I will try to take good care of it, but it would be nice to have it just a smidge more robust, in case accidents befell me. Err, and they do befall this heroine in great number!… ![]()

All told, I would recommend this to any Austen fan who has the wanderlusting itch.
It is a lovely little tool for jotting down remembrances and holding little finds.
You can purchase your own Jane Austen Travel Companion here.
Have a marvelous Thursday!

Cathie it is so pretty.
I love the illustrations. I have to admit that many a happy hour has been spent browsing the online giftshop.
Issy, I’m so glad you visited, and I agree! The illustrations are the very best part of it.
P.S. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in browsing and dreaming! ♥
