Lest We Forget — Remembrance Day, 2012…

I can’t remember a time when I’ve not considered Remembrance Day as one of the most solemn and important occasions in the year.  It may likely have to do with the fact that my dad told us children stories about how my grand-dad tried to sign up to help his country during WWII.  He was turned down due to poor eyesight, but it was a great piece of heroism, in our eyes.  The point of my dad’s story, though, was to teach us to be mindful of our many advantages and freedoms, and to be grateful for them as well as to those who made it possible.  Now that I’m with a wonderful man who’s in the military, I especially like to show my support for him, besides all the others in the forces, past and present.  As well, I’m very lucky in that he kindly takes me along to the many events that he is participating in.  This year is particularly special since it is the 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812, so there seemed to be that much more events.  I went to watch and hear him give a speech at a school, expertly field questions from curious 5th – 8th graders, take part in an assembly, and march in a Remembrance Day parade.  Needless to say, I’m quite proud of him.

Cathie -- Remembrance Day 2012I’m not including a photo of the Asos dress because I did not take off my coat at all during any of the festivities.  It was quite chilly in Campbell River and Comox, and quite frankly… I thought the sweetheart neckline was too revealing for the mood of the occasion and for a school full of children.  However, do click on the link to the ASOS website, so you can see the pretty bow detailing on either side of the waist!  I fell for that. 😉
My Beau Marching Remembrance Day, 2012Lastly, I wanted to share a picture of my beau marching in the parade with other Air Force members of 19 Wing, as well as the RCMP.  I love this shot, because you can clearly feel the autumn ambience in the picture, and because it is perfect to share on this blog since none of the faces are identifiable, so I’m able to respect everyone’s privacy.  🙂  However, if you do happen to know who my man is in this photo, wouldn’t you agree that he’s quite dashing?

Much love!

xoxo,

— Miss Cathie
