These Cold Days of February [National Sweater Day 2014]…

My dear fellow frozen Canadians…

… according to someone, a groundhog was spotted–with the site of the spotting being inexact and uncertain, dooming Canadians to 6 more looooong weeks of winter.  Do you believe this?  I swear certain people are saying this and passing it on in all perfect seriousness where I am –and with the sharp drop of the mercury into the negatives, it’s almost hard not to believe in all this crazy mammal weather prediction.  As much as I love winter, I’m a bit ready for spring now, so please let the frost go away, and the birds come out to play!!

But since the weather is still giving us the cold shoulder (did you see what I did there?), the World Wildlife Fund is inviting us all to join in on the fun of National Sweater Day, which is February 6th this year.  That’s tomorrow!!

As always, the challenge is to lower the thermostat, don a chic sweater, save on the heating bill –alright, I’m making this one up… and showing support for as well as taking a proactive part in beating climate change.

Are you ready?  Cause I, in my utterly horrid state of sickness, said goodbye to the radiators, put my game face on and posed for the camera to help add a stitch to the virtual sweater.  Warning:  You may not thank me (for the photo, not the stitch).  *ahem*

Top:  Clu ruffled jumper; wearing Moon sleeveless patch blouse underneath (both 2013)

Skirt:  Tahari skirt (2012)

Shoes:  Circus by Sam Edelman ‘Ali’ ballet flats in mercury (2013)

So take a #selfie in a sweater and join the conversation!WWF National Sweater Day 2014

The virtual sweater is knit in real-time, and will be unveiled as Canadians engage in the climate change conversation through their social media channels. Each time a #selfie is uploaded showcasing your sweaters on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ with the hashtag #SweaterDay, another piece of the virtual sweater is pulled together on www.sweaterday.ca.

Now if only I could find that stitch I made…

Let’s get knitting!! 🙂

Love,

Mrs. Cathie
