My love for beautiful, well-tailored coats –and specifically trench coats– is very much documented within this blog. Naturally, leading up to baby’s birth, I searched for cute little coats to keep him warm and stylish with. (And also after the birth, if I’m honest, which I try to be! There are so many pretties out there! *ahem*)
While I had an easy time finding him a cute winter puffer, bomber jacket, and Peter Rabbit cardigan, it was actually quite difficult finding a trench coat. Almost all that was on offer for babies and children were frilly or floral or had the right-over-left button scheme. I’m not sure why some designers think that trench coats for children are exclusively a little girl’s arena…
It was mainly at Burberry of course, that I found trench coats for baby boys and girls. However, I certainly wasn’t going to cough up the $970 (current 2019 pricing) for a baby’s trench coat at Burberry, much as I adore the company. At any rate, babies grow way too fast and get into way too much dirt and sticky situations for me to justify such a purchase.
Amazon came to the rescue though, and I found this darling little number that is, admittedly, heavily reminiscent of Burberry. I like that it is has a simple, classic cut, is of good quality and very affordable. The best part though, is that he looks so darn cute in it, if I do say so myself.
This coat comes in a range of sizes, from 12-18 months to 5-6 years. Good news for me, because I definitely intend to be purchasing larger sizes as he grows bigger! As of this writing, he’s a 10 month-old in a slightly large 12-18 months size, but as we all know… they grow fast! I like to squeeze in as much wear as I possibly can into an item that I hope he enjoys wearing as much as I enjoy seeing him in.
P.S. Thank you Shauna for the most charming monster pants!
