Black and Blue…

I couldn’t resist using the expression as a title for this post!

I feel like Nancy Drew in this dress…
You see, I got this dress because of the pretty bow detail at the neckline.  The dress, from both pictures and description, was black.  I thought to myself, “Now here’s the perfect Little Black Dress for the summer, Cathie!”  When I got it, it was… raw-ther blue.  Navy blue.  A nice shade of blue to be sure, but now I had a Little Blue Dress.  So in honour of this befuddling state of affairs, I’ve dubbed this dress ‘Black ‘n Blue‘.

Whatever the shade, it looks nice, and I would almost like it without reserve if it weren’t for the fact that the texture of the cotton fabric feels like a canvas bag.  A little bit softer, but still very much like a canvas bag.  This would be forgiveable but it picks up lint, fuzz and anything rattling about as if they were going out of style.  It also wrinkles easily and is unlined.  I had a feeling it was unlined when I purchased it but thought that for $20.00, it was still a deal and meant to be lighter for summer use anyway.  With all the not so nice qualities it has, I’m not so sure it was worth the amount I spent any more.  Still, I’ve been wearing it every day, because it’s cute and is so easy to slip on.
These shoes are my new favourites.  By Lucky Brand, they’re truly comfy –no breaking in required at all, just like my treasured Bloch flats, but at half the price point.  Little Man got these at Rideau Centre in Ottawa for me when I ‘broke’ my feet.  I try to take extra good care of these because he bought them for me. 🙂

Dress:  Bow tunic from Simons

Shoes:  Lucky Brand ‘Emmie’ ballet flats in metallic powder

Necklace:  From Etsy seller Hitomi — macarons in a glass jar

What do you think of my macaron necklace?  Cute, isn’t it?  I bought it off Etsy, and ever since I got it in the mail today, it’s been a permanent fixture ’round my neck.  🙂  I’m thinking of getting a black satin ribbon to replace the ball-chain necklace it’s on right now.  I’m ashamed to admit that when I see a ball-chain, all I can think of are those ball-chain ringlets attached to sink and tub drain plugs.  😛  I also think a black ribbon will be much more elegant and not snag my hair as much!  Other than that little detail, I do like my new tiny prettiness of pastel pastries. 🙂

I hope to post more often, but am currently dealing with a lot of changes.  I’m also going to the clinic tomorrow, because I’m worried that I’m losing more hair than usual.  I do hope that it’s just some natural and temporary change in my body, and that there’s nothing ‘wrong’ with me!  Please wish me luck!  ♥  Speak soon!

It’s Friday!!  A happy one to all of you! ♥

xoxo,

— Miss Cathie
