Books, Films, Beauty…

Happy Thursday, everyone!  It’s been a crazy week… classes, work, writing articles, and of course goju ryu classes; I feel like I haven’t spent enough time in bed! 😛

Today however, is a complete day off, (well, except for another goju ryu class, but I’ll deal with that later… *dagger eyes*) and so here I am, all slept in and bubbly once again.  I thought I’d share with you a little gallery of things that have made me smile, fall in love, or kept me occupied during the week! 🙂

Soft CashmereThis photo was from a complete failed attempt at a photoshoot with 5 minutes left till French class.  I only kept this photo because the softness of the cashmere was captured beautifully, and I couldn’t throw it away.  You can sort of guess what I’m wearing, can’t you? 😉  Pullover, jeans, and heels.

Beauty Favourites September 2011Another trip to Winners, another find. 🙂  I love my new organic wooden hairbrush!! It’s by tek, and as you can see on the handle, it’s hand made in Italy!  That makes my hair feel so special! lol  It says it’s supposed to be an anti-static hairbrush, but while I find it produces less static than a regular Goody plastic brush, it still does create static, though not as much.  It’s a slight upgrade, and I love how it’s not plastic at all.  I have a deathly fear that the wooden peg bristles will snap, but they’ve been holding up very well!  The Strawberry Body Butter by The Body Shop is simply scrumptious, no explanations needed.  I adore anything strawberry.  Lastly, Dove’s go fresh Burst body wash smells amazing, and I smelt like summer.  The bottle was empty at the time this picture was taken, but summer is over now, and it’s time to find something that smells like Autumn!Books of the MonthBecause I am studying French, I pulled out a book of my own to help supplement classes and exercises.  It’s a little extracurricular overkill, but I’m really determined to learn.  I’m also reading, re-reading Yuli Ziv’s book ‘Blogging Your Way to the Front Row’.  It’s inspirational, full of sound advice, and there are plenty of pointers that are absolutely helpful to know!  It’s essentially a compact insider’s guide to fashion blogging.  Do it out of love, and you will succeed. 🙂  I highly recommend this book — I’ve already bought a second copy so that I can bring one with me when I’m traveling, etc.  When you find a good book, you need a back-up copy! 😉Vikings and VictoriansI have been buying from Amazon like  a maniac, and these are my two latest splurges –Vikings and Victorians, lol.  But I really did love these two, and Thor was the first movie that my beau and I watched together in theatres, so it is special to me.  Actually, Transformers 3 was the first movie we watched together, but we both disliked it so much, that this is really the first.  Plus Chris Hemsworth … oh nothing. I love my man. lol  But he needs to get a Viking armour suit, asap!  The Young Victoria is amazing, and not simply because I have such a soft spot for period films.  While not quite accurate on a few points, the love story is achingly beautiful.  Palaces, dances, responsibilities of ruling a country, handsome prince and queen… costumes, etc. = ♥

Enjoy your Thursday!!

Awwe, I love lace – can’t wait to see your costume!! Are you sewing it yourself? I so need to get that book, I’ve been looking for a good blogging book – as my blog has been leaning towards fashion lately. I’d love to do more “what I wore” posts eventually but I need to get more clothes! haha.

Natalie! No, I am not sewing myself — I only wish I could turn out something so beautiful and intricate! It’s bought.. *blush blush* I mean to improve my sewing skills next year though. 🙂
I would love to see more ‘what I wore’ posts from you!! I’m currently going through your entireblog, and am so happy to find another girly-girl ‘brunette-but-blonde’! 🙂

No worries – I’m hoping to do the same this winter – eek!! (hopefully it’ll combat the winter blues!)
Good luck with improving yours! I love doing the what I wore posts/taking outfit pictures, but I SO need a better camera, and a hubby to take them. haha! Glad I’m not the only brunette-blondie out there!

I have to find that book! I feel like there are so many tips on how to make blogs popular, but it just seems to get lost in the sea of suggestions. It would be nice to have a guide that’s in one place that I could always access!
