March was such a fun and exciting month for me! I was invited to attend VFW as a media guest, and what an experience it was, that I’m not sure how to begin to share with you all the details!
Well, let’s begin at the beginning, shall we?… 🙂
On the first day, I caught two shows, Papillon and Little Houses.
Sadly, I couldn’t snap any decent photos of Little Houses, which is a shame as it is a Vancouver based label, and I like to share and support amazing Canadian talent. However, you can check out their Etsy shop (their official site seems to be down at the moment) and I am positive you will go crazy over the cute button details, flattering fits and interesting pleats and folds. Come autumn, you can celebrate the beautiful Canadian season with this talented designer’s coats.

Papillon was a joy to watch as well. They too have the cutest coats, and a very interesting fur-like cape-let in a rich velvety chocolate colour that caught my eye especially. There were also very simple, yet detailed and feminine dresses in a variety of textures such as lace and metallics; they would be fantastic additions to any wardrobe…

Now on to the more exotic… VFW also showcased some Korean designers (which sadly, I missed…) and East Indian talent as well. Though I may never wear such ethnic dresses, they were gorgeous to look at! In particular, one forest-emerald green and gold dress by Well-groomed had beautiful detailed embroidery work on the sleeves, and I am particularly pleased that I was able to capture it in a photo.
I remarked to Colleen of Clothes Line Finds that some of the dresses in the collection were reminiscent of an East Indian Betsey Johnson. She is the first blogger I’ve ever met, and so nice! She had such interesting anecdotes and fashion week wisdom to share… it was a great pleasure meeting her.

The last show I saw at VFW remains my favourite, Bano eeMee. I also met and spoke with the designer, Aleem Arif –he was charming, and very talented! The clothes are feminine, elegant, sometimes edgy, modern twists on classic silhouettes. His classic cape is my especial favourite, and I highly recommend taking a peek at the label’s fantastic lookbook. Now if only I knew where I could get my grabby hands on my favourite pieces! I had a not-so-good seat that day, so I don’t have many photos to share… but it was interesting to see Aleem dressing and undressing (nothing risqué, I assure you!) his models before sending them off down the runway.
