This past Valentine’s, I was one of the first two names to be drawn in J Brand’s special Valentine Twitter giveaway. It isn’t often I win a prize, especially something of such magnitude! so my heart skipped a beat when I found out that I had won. Almost a month later, here I am wearing my new denim which I now call ‘The Valentine Jeans’, and I refuse to take them off! Here’s my take on how to build a whole look around one item for the whole day; not a revolutionary concept by any means, but when I’m crushing on something so much, it’s natural for me to want to find as many reasons, excuses, ideas and ways to wear it as much as possible.
Office wear: Blazer with sleeves rolled back, silk top for soft yet professional luxury, heels for that corporate polish, and an elegant ladies’ wristwatch. It’s important to know when it’s time to clock out and…
Party!!: Swap blazer and corporate silk for a dramatic top –I like mine with a bow detail and a one-shoulder look that unequivocally states that this is a party outfit! May switch the shoes out for something bolder and more fun, but not necessary. For accessories, swap the watch for a bracelet, or stack bracelet and watch together for a function meets fashion look.

I know the jeans (818 Slim Boot in Starless) are a little too short for heels now, but for demonstration purposes, I thought it would do. I want to wear this pair solely with flats, and I dislike the idea of a raggedy, worn-out hem at the back because the jeans are too long –very sloppy, in my opinion, so I had it hemmed. Fashion experts advise that one should have two pairs of jeans in two lengths: one for heels and one for flats. That’s my modus operandi now, and as soon as I have the pennies all neatly lined up, I plan to get a petite sized boot-cut from J Brand to wear with heels.
To close this post off, I want to thank J Brand and the team again, very sincerely. It’s a very generous and sweet gesture that made my day, and my wardrobe. ♥

Hehe, us shorties! We’re plagued with perpetually hemming clothes. 😛
Lol! Totally! But being a shortie is the best anyways!!!! Otherwise we wouldn’t get to climb on counters to reach things, or still let our men look tall when we wear heels! 😉
You look smokin’ in those jeans (and that top… soooo pretty!)

Thanks, Leia. ^_^ I really do like the top, too! It’s very flattering!
Those jeans are gorgeous. Yay for winning. I love the pink top you paired it with as well.
