Pretty Dresses & That Spring Feeling…

By the touch of the warm and welcome sun
Opened suddenly.  Spring’s begun!
Dance then, fairies, for joy and sing
The song of the coming again of Spring.

It has been a while since I shared an outfit post, but two weeks of influenza might do the same to anybody.  Feeling more the thing now, especially with a pretty dress to help cheer me up!

The weather, –though there are still rainy days for which I am grateful– has been cheerfully sunny and glorious.  There’s a refreshing, steady breeze, and every plant is blooming and the grass is ever so lush.  The grass was cut yesterday, and I had a nice walk in the rain… there’s nothing like the smell of freshly cut grass to herald the Spring.  Mmm…

Anyway, all the joy and joie de vivre has sneaked into my wardrobe, and though this is an otherwise colourless outfit, I hope you can see the Spring-iness about it.

I didn’t bother with accessories, as I thought the huge layered collar and ribbon detail were sufficient.  Also, I believe simplicity marries well with the essence of Spring, and I wanted to reflect that in my outfit.  I’m also particularly pleased with the fact that I switched it up a bit from my normal style in terms of footwear.  I usually shy away from pairing sneakers with a dress, opting for the more feminine ballet flats instead.  This time around, I decided to be a bit more adventurous and I quite like the result!
Bensimon shoes are my new favourite find — they are so comfy!  Launched in France in  the 70’s, they have all the markings of Parisian chic.  Classic yet modern, simple yet luxurious, and with a healthy dose of joie de vivre, Bensimon is the sophisticated answer to my quest for the perfect sneaker.

Dress:  People’s Market ‘Pretie’ dress $38.00 (originally $150.00!)

Shoes:  Bensimon tennis lacet fashion sneaker in Carbon — $28.00 (normally $80.00!)

Beautiful weather, blossoming flowers and pretty dresses, what more could I want? 🙂  It’s Spring!

xoxo,

— Miss Cathie

You look lovely as ever! Sorry to hear you’ve been ill, but I’m glad you’re better now. I’m hankering to grow some plants too. I’m hoping to stop by a nursery this weekend and buy a bunch to fill up my porch!
