I Wish I Were… a Ballerina…

I’ll be the first to admit that I wish I were a ballerina.

I want their grace, their perfectly ‘bun-ed’ hair (yes, I make words up, so there.) the cute shoes, and the ability to spin like a top.  Also the long legs, but I’m not greedy…

But oh, the grace!  Just to admit how graceless I am, here’s an anecdote.

Back in December, my friend and I went to the Silhouette Theatre & Dance Shop because I had mentioned how I wanted a pair of split sole shoes to do my Ballet Beautiful exercises in, and she had decided to gift me with a pair as a Christmas present.  I ended up with a pair of ballet gym slippers instead of the coveted split sole ones, but not before smacking my face into a shelf full of shoes, twice.  You see, there’s this wooden ‘platform’, about an inch higher than the rest of the store level.  I am not sure why it was there, except that it was, (…clearly to vex me, I see no other reason…) and I managed to trip over it just as my friend was explaining to the lady at the counter, “Oh my friend wants to be a ballerina!”  I’m sure I demonstrated just how much in need of balance I was, and I can’t tell you how judged I felt, as I managed to raise an eyebrow or two. lol

Needless to say, I’ve accepted that I may have two left feet, but not defeat.  Never!  Instead, I went online and with a bit of expert clicking and keyword-ing, I found ‘The Dance Shop‘ just in Vancouver.  I ordered a few lovely items, and they came with all due haste and prettiness, and do you see that cute little keychain?!  I am just so excited. 🙂  Maybe grace and balance are not so elusive, after all!

Leotard:  Capezio CC450
Shoes:  Bloch SO277L split sole canvas shoes (straps tucked in… sewing to be done later)

Update:

***

I haven’t really done an outfit post in a while, but I’m getting back into the swing of things.  This is what I wore to run a few errands in, and to check our box at the post office for mail.  As you can see, it was full of lovely goodies. 🙂

Scarf:  Postcript silk scarf from Victoria Trading Company (Incorrect use of apostrophe to be found on scarf.  I’m probably the only one who proofreads writing on clothes…)

Top:  Tommy Hilfiger (bought in Burlington)

Jeans: Denim by Victoria Beckham

Shoes:  Bloch two-toned ballet flats  (The tips are very cute!)

Have a beautiful Monday! xx
