Pretty Eyes…

I am tremendously excited:  I have decided to take the plunge (alright, splash) ‘back’ into the world of beauty.  Just a little bit.

Those who know me personally know that I can live without makeup.  Personally, I find it is a waste of time and money; instead I pay special attention to my hair, skin and nails – keeping them moisturised and healthy besides drinking lots of water, multivitamins and eating fruits and vegetables has always been my secret to looking pretty or polished.  This automatically makes me boring to some people, who simply cannot understand why I don’t appreciate or love the fascinating world of makeup.  My answer is this:  I’d like to be certain that when someone compliments me on my looks, it is actually because of my looks, and not due to some clever application of ‘maquillage’.  The only downside to this is that when I am taking photos for my blog, you can hardly see my peepers in photos — they’re long, but not very thick at all, so unless it is a close-up… and even then, they don’t always show up either!

So this is my reason for coming back to the beauty world, for just a few things.  I am still adhering to my principles – such as no fake eyelashes whatsoever, no foundation and no bronzer, but to prevent myself from looking like a lash-less being when taking snaps for this blog, I splurged on an all-natural mascara by Sweet Lei Lani during my ferry ride to Vancouver earlier this November.  I love travelling via BC Ferries!  The gift shops on each ferry are always full of unique finds, many of them proudly Canadian – including this mascara!  That’s something I’m always excited about; I just love local talent, and supporting them!

So far, I have used the mascara three times — though never while having pictures taken of me for this blog.  I like that it doesn’t clump, and doesn’t make my lashes feel brittle, I even wore it out in the rain, and it didn’t run!  Although, I admit I’m a huge eye-rubber, so I got raccoon eyes another way… hahaha, but moderate eye rubbing doesn’t seem to affect it, though I would still be careful!  For looks, the bottle has a pretty unique shape which I find cute.  All in all, I’m pretty pleased with it!  If you’re interested in ‘additive free’ mascara,  do give this a try!

Just a photo of me in Vancouver — aren’t all those fiery leaves gorgeous?!

Firstly, I just want to say that I totally admire you for not wearing make-up. Your skin is absolutely flawless and you don’t NEED any at all! (However, if you’re finding it fun to experiment, then why not?!) I wish I looked so good without anything, but sadly I don’t feel confident until I cover my dark circles, add a bit of blush to perk up my color, and line my eyes a little bit. Maybe this means I need to concentrate more on my diet… I would LOVE to feel happy and confident without make-up! 🙂

Leia, you always leave the nicest, sweetest comments! Thank you! *blush blush* Although, I must say, I truly believe that you *are* radiant and gorgeous without make-up yourself!!

P.S. I do have dark half-moons under my eyes, too! I’m surprised that the camera graciously decides not to pick them up sometimes! heehee
