This past Wednesday-Friday, I was in Aylmer/Gatineau, which is a city quite close to Ottawa. It wasn’t the best few days to choose to drive in as the weather was unbearably hot, and either very dry or humid –I was practically melting! Thank heavens for the rare breezes. The three hours from Montreal seemed an eternity (I realise I sound a bit dramatic, but I wilt in the heat…), and my beau and I stayed at his aunt’s place for the duration of our trip there.
On the first day in Aylmer, we washed the car, had a lovely supper of shrimp and angel-hair pasta with Caesar salad, then took a walk around the neighbourhood. I had mixed feelings about going on a walk as I love walks, but detested the heat and getting tanned. After the walk, we had some lemon tea and watermelon while discussing our itinerary for the ‘morrow, finally deciding on visiting the Canadian Museum of Civilisation and the Rideau Centre shopping mall. I then took a much-needed shower, and hand-washed the shirt I wore below in the sink. It was Very Silly of me to have only brought three tops, so to keep my options open, I did a bit of scrubbing. I actually enjoyed it, as it felt very Laura Ingalls-ish on a more petite scale.

Skirt: Simons.ca ‘Twik’ bow belt skirt (a Quebec-based chain of clothing stores…has cute things but quality varies)
I am back in the south-eastern countryside (in Quebec) now and will have a more elaborate post of our trip to the museum at a later date when I have more time, and am less lazy or prone to mindless rambling. (I am on vacation! ;)) Signing off with this picture, which was taken when I was hot and sticky with my hair a tangled mess, but thank goodness you can’t really see it here! (I hope!)
As the saying goes, “Pigs sweat, gentlemen perspire, and ladies merely glisten/glow/shine…” (The adjectives for women seem to vary, but they’re all quite complimentary… that it really doesn’t matter! :D)
P.S. To Kathleen of “That’s a Pretty Hat” and Leia of “Leia’s Delights“… two beautiful ladies with warm hearts and gorgeous clothes: Thank you for still stopping by and leaving sweet notes! I am still reading your posts, but haven’t had much time to comment! Hope to share thoughts soon! Cx ♥
Thanks for the shout out! my father used to say “ladies glow.”
You look absolutely adorable! I love the quote – especially pertinent in boiling Delhi right now. Glad you had a nice trip! And thanks for the shout-out, too 🙂
