The First Rain of the Season, and an English Checked Scarf (Or, Kate Middleton Stole My Clothes)

There’s a bit of pitter-patter-plip-plopping going on today…

♥ Happy September to you all!! ♥

Today is a very quiet day… In my imagination, the world is so used to the cheery, energetic busy-ness of the sunshine, that they don’t know what to do now that it’s so grey and peaceful.  So it is that the fast-falling little drops and droplets are left alone to dance merrily down from the sky, and play a little staccato song on the roofs and pavements.

This picture can be viewed two ways… 1.  I’m either checking to see if the coast is clear before I take silly pictures of myself, or 2.  I’m looking to see if Autumn is just around the corner.  (I think it is!!  Look at that beautiful tree all blazing red behind me!)

Scarf:  Aquascutum Club Check scarf in navy

TopVelvet baby jersey classic boatneck

Jeans:  Rich & Skinny ‘Legacy’ crop in black

Shoes: Bloch patent leather ballet flats

You all must know, before judging me, that Kate Middleton (now the Duchess of Cambridge) stole my trench coat.

Oh, and also this scarf…

When Burberry came out with its collection earlier this year, I laid eyes on the wool coat with the ruffled trim and fell in love.  I was diligently saving my money for it, counting all my pennies, until one March day…BAM!  She was wearing it, and it was Sold Out.  I was heartbroken!  I was also determined not to be seen as a copy-cat (or copy-Kate) as there is nothing more frustrating than to have or want something first, and then a celebrity/public figure ‘debuts it’ first in the media!

So I graciously treated myself to a consolation prize, and then set my sights on another prestigious English brand –I have a thing for British clothing–, Aquascutum.  The months went swiftly by; I had saved up for a particular scarf, and was waiting for the seasonal sale.  In my mind, this soft beauty was already mine!  Lo and behold, along came the Royal Tour of Canada, and the Duchess was spotted with my scarf!

By this time, I was pretty sure I was being stalked (no, not really.. 😛 lol) but I went ahead and bought it at less than half of its original price.  I don’t regret it… I love the pattern, and it’s so snug-a-boo-cuddly.  I can almost forgive Her Royal Highness for being unable to resist its charm as well, and to be fair… I guess having a well-to-do family, and probably a doting prince to top it off, means you don’t have to wait for sales.  Now if only she’d be so nice as to lend me that coat for the season… *wink*

Are you all enjoying the seasonal changes as much as I am?

Much love,

~Cathie~

I see you’re a Bloch lover too! They make great dancing shoes to boot.

I can’t wait for Fall. All the laying I’ll be doing.
